I watched this video yesterday and planned to travel my own Minecraft railroad from start to finish. It's different than yours. It's not high in the air. It goes on land. Redsand torches are hidded. There are turns, hills, bridges, tunnels, stations, etc... It takes about 2 to 8 seconds to change to next rail in stations. It stops in every village that comes to it's route. I started my trip 5.33AM and just manage to finish at 10.19AM.
